Progress Rear Swaybar

This is the "standard" in rear swaybars for the 2006+ Honda Civic.  22mm non-adjustable bar is great quality and now includes reinforcing brackets so you do not tear your frame bracket at the endlink.  Powder coated metallic grey, this (or any) rear swaybar is a critical part of your car's handling like a true performance car.  We do not recommend increasing the size of the front swaybar because that will cause more understeer in your suspension.

These replace the lower front

ball joints on your 06+ Civic and

change the angle of the lower

control arm to improve the

geometry of lowered cars.

While these are not legal in

many racing classes (because

they change suspension

geometry), they are definitely

an improvement for those who

want the best setup possible.

They are a positive improvement

on any car (even stock) but

more important for significantly

lowered cars.

 

 

FURTHER ADVICE ON PERFORMANCE HANDLING FOR YOUR 2006+ HONDA CIVIC!

The advice I've given a few people already is that the RedShift suspensions will all work better with a rear swaybar and RedShift Reinforcement Brackets.  This is no different than any suspension packages, but running a rear bar allows you to run lower rates in the back, and that allows for a great daily driver that can hit the track and be fast.  And lastly, the #1 problem on the new Civic is the lack of camber adjustment in front; so I HIGHLY recommend a set of 2 aftermarket camber bolts for the front of the car (1 per side) to give yourself more like 1.25 degrees negative. The more the better. If this were a trailered track car, we'd be running around 3.0 degrees negative, but the more camber you put in, the more your tires will wear on the inside. The harder you drive, the more camber you should put in because you may already have found that you tend to wear out the outside of the tire with so little camber. I would start with 1.25 degrees negative camber on any setup and see how that works. You'll be blown away with how much better your car handles at the limit with more camber!

Ingalls P/N 81260 = ± 2° adjustment (2 bolts per box at $24 each)......need to purchase 2 of these for 2 bolts per side. More performance but increased tire wear. Only do this if you really care about the last tenth of a second at the track.

How to remove the 22mm nut at the top of a RACE strut.

(And our older "VW Corrado"-based SPORT kits)

 

The 22mm nut at the top of the strut piston can be very difficult to remove, and we have always supplied a modified "27/32nds shower valve wrench" with our kits in order to deal with this nut if needed (if you have to disassemble the front struts).  It is modified simply by hammering it over a 22mm nut a few times to stretch it out (which is easy to do since they are flimsy sheet metal based tools).  With the closed end of a 7/8" box wrench on the outside of the shower wrench, this is a good positive hold on the 22mm nut.  These valve wrenches are cheap at the local hardware store for less than $10.  You can find them online for about $3.  These shower valve wrenches look like this:

 

BUT NOW THERE IS A NEW OPTION THAT MAY WORK, although it'll cost a bit more and we have not tried it at RedShift.... but it appears it should work.  It's a Metalnerd part number MN2122.  That tools is found on this page:

http://www.metalnerd.com/cat05.htm   This tool is about $50 shipped; so it's not cheap, but it's easier than the shower valve tool above.  This tool looks like this:

Now that you have a hold of the 22mm nut, use an 11mm deep socket on the hex at the top of the piston with an extension that extends above the "nut" tool above (1/4" drive needed with the shower valve wrench.... 3/8" ok with the Metalnerd tool).  We use a torque wrench on the piston hex at 30 lb*ft.  Be careful not to strip the 11mm hex at the top of the piston, and definitely use "blue" thread lock fluid (like loc-tite) when reinstalling.
